How should I troubleshoot flickering lights when using a 52V battery with a voltage reducer?Updated an hour ago

Flickering lights on a golf cart or vehicle running a 52V battery typically indicate an issue with the voltage reducer, wiring setup, or a kit feature setting. LEDGlow lighting kits are designed for a steady 12V power supply, so any fluctuation can cause the lights to flicker.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • Check the Reducer Output: Use a multimeter to confirm the reducer is consistently providing 12V output. Voltage drops or spikes can cause flickering.

  • Verify Amperage Rating: Make sure the reducer is rated for at least 5 amps, as undersized reducers may not provide stable power.

  • Inspect Wiring: Look for loose, pinched, or damaged wires between the reducer, control box, and lights. Shorts or poor connections can cause instability.

  • Ground Connection: Ensure the reducer and control box are securely grounded to the chassis or a clean ground point.

  • Sound Mode: Some kits include a sound-activated mode that reacts to vibrations or music. If enabled, this may cause the lights to flash or flicker in rhythm with sound rather than staying steady. Switch to a solid color mode to confirm whether sound mode is causing the flickering.

  • Smart Battery Consideration: If your cart has a smart lithium battery, make sure the reducer is compatible and correctly installed to prevent power interruptions.

Running lights directly from a 52V source without a reducer, or using a reducer that isn’t stable, will result in flickering and may damage the control box or LEDs. For assistance, feel free to Contact Us.
